CHRIS and Carla McKowen have partnered with celebrated British chef of international fame Jason Atherton to open the Pig & Palm restaurant.
It is located at the ground floor of the MSY building owned by Carla’s parents, Carlos and Mariquita Yeung.
The location is ideal — Ayala Land’s Cebu Business Park.
The opening was another grand occasion to gather Cebu’s luminaries and then some, all bent on congratulating Chris and Carla, as well as Jason and his wife Irha who is a Cebuana. “From the north, like us,” say Mariquita and Carlos.
The Pig & Palm seats 57, and has been designed by eminent architect Lyndon Neri. It offers fare inspired by Spanish gastronomy, and as the name implies, puts a focus on pork-based dishes.
There’s a toastie of jamon serrano and queso manchego with quail’s eggs. The lechon de leche comes with pork-fat roasted carrots and a herb dressing.
There’s a brunch menu with a range of inventive egg-based dishes. There are also pulled pork burgers with spiced tomato chutney.
The Pig & Palm is the 16th restaurant worldwide for the Athertons’ critically acclaimed restaurant group, The Social Company.
It holds three Michelin-starred outlets in London and spans further to cover New York, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Dubai and Sydney. And then, Cebu.
The Pig & Palm is open from Tuesday to Sunday for breakfast, lunch or dinner, from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. The reservation line, 255-8249, is open from
9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
If you plan to go, it would be wise to make a reservation.
