Suspected drug peddler killed in police operation

A man who earlier surrendered to the police but returned to his illegal drugs business was killed in a police operation in Barangay Bagasawe in Tuburan town, midwestern Cebu Monday night.

Ulysis Baja, 32, was already dead when brought to the Tuburan District Hospital.

Police recovered from his possession seven small sachets of shabu and a .38 caliber revolver.

Chief inspector Rolan Aliser of Tuburan police that Baja earlier surrendered to the police under their Oplan Tokhang.

They later found that he returned to selling drugs which prompted them to operate on him on Monday night.

Aliser said they sent a poseur buyer to buy a sachet of shabu from the suspect. But before Baja could hand the shabu to his buyer, he sensed the presence of policemen in the area.

Baja, Aliser said, pulled our his revolver and aimed at him but he managed to fire at the suspect first hitting him on the body.
