THEY may be struggling in the ongoing City Sports Club-Cebu (CSC-C) E-League for Basketball but the Sykes Pioneers made their presence felt in the league’s All-Star festivities after they won two of the four contests last Sunday at CSC-C Gym.
Jhoniel Geraldizo and Robby Ruiz ruled the two-ball contest by firing 41 points, barely edging out second-placers Carlo Amimita and Alexander Neri of the SSI Warriors, who tallied 40 markers.
Gharde Malinao and James Malalay of Contact Solutions came in third with 27 points followed by Tristan Abenido and Lance Lopez of Atos with 21.
Marcos Jungoy III and Rahne Laborte of Teleperformance wound up fifth with 19.
Sykes, which has only two wins to show in five games in the season so far, also topped the Skills Challenge behind Paul Sanchez, who completed the course in 26 seconds.
Christian Palima was Sanchez’s closest pursuer with 33 seconds, while Junas Misa of Accenture and Juary Daseco of Tech Mahindra both timed 35 seconds.
Accenture’s Ryan Llanos, meanwhile, emerged as the best shooter after he ruled the three-point shootout contest by dropping 13 points in the finals.
Justin Mier of Supportsave came in second with eight, while James Malalay of Contact Solutions finished third with seven.
In the 3×3 blitz tournament, Dean Escalon of the Teleperformance, Archie Batua of Accenture and Kenneth Babor of Dyninno went home with the crown by pulling off a 21-19 triumph over Jasper Diaz of Telstra, Elmer Saavedra of Tech Mahindra and Elgiel Melgar of Blue Ocean.
