5 p.m. – USC vs CEC (Jrs.)
6:45 p.m. – SWU vs USPF (Srs.)
The Southwestern University (SWU)-Phinma Cobras will be gunning for their third win in a row when they battle the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) Panthers today in the 16th Cesafi men’s basketball tournament at the Cebu Coliseum.
Victorious against the Cebu Institute of Technology-University (CIT-U) Wildcats, 68–64, last time out, the Cobras will try to strike once again with a victory putting them into a tie for the lead with the idle University of the Visayas (UV) Green Lancers, who currently stand atop with a 3–0 (win-loss) card.
And expected to be at the tip of the spear of SWU’s attack will be the stellar backcourt of two-time league MVP Macmac Tallo and veteran point man John Lloyd Luz, who led the way for the Cobras against the Wildcats with 18 points.
SWU will not be lacking for size as well with the presence of reliable big man Bernie Bregondo and 6-foot-11 center Quintin Nzuzi.
USPF will be seeking to put up a fight behind their fast-paced, frenetic brand of basketball manned by the likes of John Alocillo, Lyndon Colina, Kenneth Cada, Kimo Bajamunde and Roy Quiatchon.
In the juniors division, the Cebu Eastern College (CEC) Dragons will be trying to make it two straight wins when they battle the winless University of San Carlos (USC) Warriors.
