Capitol turns over abattoir equipment to 34 LGUs

THE Cebu Provincial government turned over more than P6 million worth of abattoir equipment to 34 local government units in the province yesterday morning.

Gov. Hilario Davide III, Provincial Veterinarian Dr. Rose Vincoy and some Provincial Board (PB) members led the turnover of the equipment to the mayors and other representatives of the recipient LGUs.

The equipment include 35 viscera inspection tables, 34 electric hog stunners, 34 evisceration platforms, 34 viscera carts and two digital weighing scales.

Vincoy said out of the 51 municipalities and component cities in the province, only 37 have slaughterhouses which are mandated by the Local Government Code.

Vincoy said her office has been assisting the remaining LGUs to establish their own slaughterhouses.

The budget for the equipment purchased was taken from the Capitol’s annual investment plan in 2015.

He said each of the recipient LGUs received between P178,000 to P250,000 worth of the abattoir equipment.

The recipient LGUs include Carcar City, Naga City, San Fernando, Sibonga, Argao, Boljoon, Oslob, Dalaguete, Asturias, Balamban, Barili, Toledo City, Tuburan, Bantayan, Bogo City, Borbon, Daanbantayan, Medellin, Tabogon, Tabuelan, Carmen, Catmon, Compostela, Danao City, Liloan, San Francisco, Sogod, Tudela, Consolacion, Alegria, Badian, Dumanjug, Malabuyoc and Moalboal.

Meanwhile, also yesterday, the Capitol turned over a brand new ambulance to four district hospitals in Barili, Pinamungajan, Argao and Minglanilla. Each ambulance costs P1.4 million.
