A 60-year-old beauty products dealer can now sleep soundly in her home in Barangay Luz, Cebu City without fear of being demolished.

Lucrecia Nudalo and 11 other residents of Cebu City were awarded lot titles during the 28th anniversary celebration of the Community Mortgage Program (CMP) held in Barangay Luz yesterday.

“I can now sleep soundly at night and will no longer think of demolition,” Nudalo told Cebu Daily News.

Nudalo started living in Barangay Luz in 1996. In 2005, she offered to purchase the 45-square meter lot that she occupies, but was able to pay the lot, worth P20,000, in full to the Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC) only this year.

Lawyer Maria Rosalie Richa Taguian, vice president of Social Housing Finance Corporation, said there are still around eight to ten titles pending for release in Cebu.

“As long as nakapag bayad, we do it every month (releasing of titles),” Taguian said.

The event was graced by Vice President Leni Robredo. Robredo yesterday mentioned the need to reduce the requirements in filing an application for lot ownership.

“From 27, the requirements will be cut down to nine,” Robredo said.

Robredo said she also wanted to streamline the processing of lot applications.

Instead of two to four years, Robredo said that they wanted to make it 15 to 30 days. She said they would also create a one-stop shop where various government agencies offer their services in one venue.
