The University of Cebu (UC) broke ground for its School of Engineering building on Saturday.
The 9-storey building is expected to be completed and ready to hold classes by April 2017.
It will rise on a 3,000 square meter lot along J. Alcantara Street in Barangay Sambag Dos, Cebu City across Elizabeth Mall.
The new engineering building can accommodate 4,000 students from UC’s nine engineering programs with 60 classrooms and 19 laboratories, among others.
Lawyer Augusto Go, UC president, said the building alone will cost P170 million.
Go added that the project was prompted by the increasing number of students at UC Main, which he estimates to be around 53,000 now.
Go said he is committed to provide everything that his students need for as long as they also strive to work hard especially in board examinations.
