Pagay conquers UR11 Three-Bridge Challenge

Azlan Pagay and ultra marathoner Preciosa Sanchez won in yesterday’s 25-kilometer Three-Bridge Challenge of Cebu Doctors’ University’s (CDU) University Run 11 at the CDU campus in Mandaue City.

Pagay, a consistent podium finisher in fun runs here in Cebu, breasted the finish line in one hour, 45 minutes and 29 seconds to rule the men’s 25k race.

Among the obstacles of the 25k race were the three bridges that runners had to pass through. These are the Mandaue-Mactan Bridge, Cansaga Bridge and Marcelo Fernan Bridge.

Sanchez, a multi-titled ultra marathoner, also conquered these three bridges and clocked in at 2:15.08 to top the distaff side.

Boxer Ian Refuela finished second to Pagay with a time of 1:49.45 while Edilberto Datincila finished third, clocking 1:54.05.

Runners up in the distaff side were Rexel May Dalinog (2:38.20) and Mae Cherryl Wuttke (2:49.46).

Rendell Corro, meanwhile, topped the 13k race with a time of 55:27.

Ray Rolly Omnus finished second place with a time of 57:17 and Carlos Bayno at third, clocking 58:35.

Karla Cosep topped the female 13k, finishing in 1:10.49.

Virgita Soco finished second (1:11.33) and Sweet Pinafil third (1:20.50).

In the 6k race, Kimi Wee and Andrew Sacres were the winners. Wee clocked 29:17 for the women’s crown while Sacres timed 24:53 for the men’s title.

Japeth Iway topped the 3k male division with a time of 12:56 while Melinda Vallar ruled the distaff side with a time of 14:41.

Winners in the 25k alumni category were Checky Young and Cons Veloso with official times of 3:36.34 and 2:11.12, respectively.

There was also a 13k alumni category, which was topped by Rolen Tarife (57:22) and Abegail Alde (1:30.28). The 13k employee division was ruled by Cas Alzate (1:18.15) and Jennifer Tapales (1:25.57).
