A COUPLE died while eight others were injured when the vehicle they were riding slammed into a tree, flipped and landed on its side in Barangay Ocaña, Carcar City yesterday.
The driver Keith Rosel, 36, who was an American citizen, and her partner, Nygile Rosel, were killed in the accident, said PO1 Ariel Yap, Carcar City police station desk officer.
Yap said initial investigation showed that Keith Rosel lost control of the vehicle as he and nine others were heading to their hometown in Sibonga town from Cebu City at 5:30 a.m.
The blue Ford Ranger suddenly hit a tree at the right lane of the road, flipped and landed on its side at the side of the road.
Erwin Llanos, Nikka Mae Rosel, Florian Anuda, Melody Cantoria, Ariel Rosel, Primitivo Rosel, Edsel Rosel, and Stephen Rosel, who were riding at the back of the pick-up, were injured in the accident.
They were brought to the hospital where they were confined for treatment.
