At least 200 surrenderers in Liloan gathered on Monday at the Pamphil Frasco Memorial Complex for the launching of “Liloan Operation Second Chance”, a program spearheaded by the local government of Liloan to help the surrenderers recover from drugs.
The program is intended for over 1,260 drug surrenderers in Liloan town.
Under the program the local government of Liloan will offer free livelihood and skills training, employment opportunities, sports clinics, health services and community-based rehabilitation in exchange for community service.
Liloan Mayor Christina Frasco said that the program is in line with the “Sugbo Kontra Droga (SuKoD)” program that encourages drug surrenderees to become “positive contributing members to the society.”
The mayor also led the surrenderers and barangay official present in a pledge of commitment and signing of a covenant to totally turn from and help combat drugs.
The programs will run until all surrenderees become “volunteers for second chance.”
As of today, over 200 surrenderees out of the 1,260 have volunteered to participate in the program.
