Nearly 100 people from youth and non-government organizations mounted another rally at the Capitol grounds at 5 pm Monday to voice their opposition to the burial of the late president Ferdinand Marcos Sr. at the Libingan ng mga Bayani.
Led by the group Kaisa ang Kilusan para sa Pambansang Demokrasya (Kilusan) Cebu, the rallyists called on President Rodrigo Duterte to reconsider his decision to allow the burial and for the Supreme Court (SC) not to allow the burial.
Human rights lawyer Democrito Barcenas, a veteran martial law activist, said the SC should look at the legalities surrounding this issue.
He cited the agreement made between then president Fidel Ramos and Imelda Marcos where Imelda agreed to have her husband’s body buried in their hometown and not in the Heroes’ Cemetery.
Kilusan Cebu also mounted an exhibit where photos taken during Martial Law were shown./Correspondent Carmel Loise Matus
