6:45 p.m. – UC vs. USC (College)

The three-time defending champions Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu Magis Eagles will try to break out of a four-way logjam at first place when they battle the Cebu Eastern College (CEC) Dragons today in the juniors division of the 16th Cesafi basketball tournament at the Cebu Coliseum.

The Magis Eagles are coming off a spectacular 73–48 thrashing of the previously unbeaten Don Bosco Greywolves last Saturday, a dominant victory that sent a resounding message to the rest of the pack that they’re still the team to beat in spite of the loss that they suffered at the hands of the University of Cebu (UC) a few weeks back.

Ateneo de Cebu is currently tied with Don Bosco, the University of the Visayas (UV) and UC at the top of the standings. All four squads hold similar 4–1 (win-loss) records.

The boys in blue and white will try to change that with a victory against a Dragons squad that is reeling from a 56–80 loss at the hands of the UV Baby Lancers last Saturday. That loss dropped them to the middle of the pack at 3–2.

In the collegiate division, the defending champions University of San Carlos (USC) Warriors will try to break a two-game losing streak as they face off against the University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters.

With both teams tied at 2–3, much will be at stake as they try to secure the fourth spot in the standings heading to the second round of the elimination round.

As it is, UV and Southwestern University-Phinma are tied for first with perfect 5–0 records while the University of San Jose-Recoletos is close behind at 3–2.
