IT WAS an unexpected and bittersweet ending for Eat Bulaga’s “Kalyeserye” when the popular segment which gave birth to the phenomenal love team AlDub (Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza) bid its viewers goodbye last Saturday.
After more than a year of courtship between Alden and Maine (who joined Kalyeserye as the Dubsmashing “Yaya Dub”) and waiting for the “tamang panahon,” the segment has come to an end.
Eat Bulaga’s highly popular soap opera parody ended with Lola Nidora (Wally Bayola) and Lola Tinidora (Jose Manalo) leaving for United States as they have fulfilled their task to look after their grand daughter Maine, who has recently gave her sweet yes to Alden during the September 1 episode.
During Saturday’s episode, both Alden and Maine threw a farewell party for their lolas, who had been with them through ups and downs, teaching them the value of waiting for the right time and never rushing into falling in love.
“Hanggang sa muli, maraming salamat po. I love you all,” said Lola Nidora as she boarded the van that will bring them to the airport for their flight to America. She was joined in by Lola Tinidora, together wih Maine and Alden.
Lola Nidora’s Rogelios (bodyguards) and the “All For Juan” participants jokingly walked behind the van, as if following after a funeral. As the last shot faded into white screen, words were flashed promising for a return.
“The end .. English ng wakas. Pero ang Kalyeserye hindi pa natatapos. Abangan ang Pagbabalik. Kalyeserye shall return,” was Kalyeserye’s farewell message.
On Twitter, Maine posted a photo of the Kalyeserye squad with the caption: “The Kalye squad! Mami-miss namin kayo, hanggang sa muli!”
Some fans of the Kalyeserye segment also said their goodbyes but at the same time looked forward to a new chapter.
“Endings signifies new beginnings. Exciting season ahead for BabyBoy&BabyGirl, diba Aldubnation?,” tweeted MaichardLaspi.
Twitter user @NicoZey also tweeted, “There’s still a lot of surprises na nakahanda para sa’tin and that’s going to be exciting. Hanggang sa muli KS! #ALDUBLolasUSBound.”
With Kalyeserye’s promise to return, fans are expecting a reunion of the JoWaPAo trio as Paolo Ballesteros is set for a comeback to the noontime show after serving a six-month suspension.
In a PEP interview, “Eat Bulaga” host Allan K confirmed the news.
“Malapit na. Baka this week or next week. Tapos na suspension niya, naka-six months na siya, e,” Allan said.
Paolo portrayed Lola Nidora, one of the De Explorer sisters, who taught beauty queen tips to Maine and made popular the expression: “Regine! Woooooo!”
