Inmates’ visitors not pleased with ‘No Contact’ policy

Some visitors were not happy with the no physical contact policy adopted by the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC).

Nay Feliz, who declined to give her full name, arrived with a wooden crane from Balamban to visit her son.

But she was dismayed on hearing that she can only talk to her son.

“Way kapuslanan ang pagbisita. Mao unta ni ang panahon makagunit ta sa atong anak (Visiting is not worth it. That was the time we can embrace our children),” she said.

Relatives of inmates ofCPDRC were allowed to visit after the provincial government lifted the suspension of visitation privileges effective Monday.

The visitors however were no longer allowed to have any physical contact with the inmates as part of the tighter security protocol that the management has adopted following recent discoveries of cash, drugs and cellphones in the inmates’ possession.
