THE “North Star” is responsible in the modern contemporary ambiance and effective use of space of the soon-to-be launched Mezzo Hotel Cebu.
Meet Polaris Anne S. Tiro, an up-and-coming interior designer with a string of residential projects under her belt.
Named after the North Star, the brightest star in the Ursa Minor constellation, Polaris is leading the way in making sure that Mezzo Hotel Cebu exudes an updated, modern, and distinctive feel that will distinguish it from other hotel brands in the city.
“The hotel is located right in the middle of the city but we made sure that it still has a homey feel… that guests would love to go back to their ‘home’ in the city after a long day,” said the Fine Arts major in
Interior Design graduate of the University of San Carlos.
Polaris played with different materials in designing the interiors of Mezzo Hotel Cebu. She used stainless steel, wood, glass, and fabric to create a fresh and updated look, an approach that is consistent with the hotel’s modern contemporary theme.
She worked closely with Mezzo Hotel Cebu’s management in the months that she went through the entire design process.
The 11-storey hotel embraces neutral shades (gray, cream, and brown) while still highlighting the visual attributes of blue and gold, Mezzo Hotel Cebu’s official colors.
The hotel has 190 rooms under four categories: standard, de luxe, suite, and premium.
The room designs are sensitive of the guests’ need to unwind and relax.
The hotel’s seven function rooms, including two ballrooms with a combined seating capacity of 1,000 people, will have custom-made chandeliers made of stainless steel and glass.
The chandeliers have three-colored lighting (warm white, cool white, day light) making it more convenient for guests to decide which mood they want for their events.
In designing the lobby area, Polaris drew inspiration from the hotel’s indoor swimming pool which enabled the area’s integrated layout while retaining a classy-modern atmosphere.
Mezzo Hotel Cebu will officially open in the first quarter of 2017.
