About 195 cases of drug related killings were monitored by the Commission on Human Rights (CHR-7) in Central Visayas from May to September this year.

Leo Villarino, chief investigator for CHR-7 said during Tuesday’s 888 News Forum at Marco Polo Plaza that the figures rose compared to last year.

“Last year, there are few drug related killings. The figures are composed of both legitimate operations and unknown or vigilante assailants,” Villarino said.

He said the figures in the same period last year were lower than 195.

Of 195 killings, only 14 cases have official complaints.

“The family of the victims are afraid to pursue the complaints because they are concerned about their safety,” he said.
