Lexmark surges to top spot

THE Lexmark Stallions cruised to an easy 82-54 win over the winless Wipro Tigers to grave the solo lead in the Elite Classic of the 12th City Sports Club-Cebu (CSC-C) E-League for Basketball last Sunday at the CSC-C Gym.

Vill Duero fired in 24 points and Siegfred Ofonda chipped in 12 markers as the Stallions snagged their fifth victory in six games to build a slight lead in the race for the top spot in the Elite Classic.

In an another sloppy offensive showing, the Tigers only had Aaron Paule Suson as double-digit scorer with 13, heavily contributing to the team’s seventh straight debacle.

Also scoring wins in the Elite Classic were the Accenture Sharks and the Telstra Boomerangs.

With Archie Brian Batua firing 22 points and grabbing seven rebounds, Accenture trampled the ePerformax Reds, 77-69, while Telstra had seven players scoring in twin digits to flatten the SSI Warriors, 97-89.

Junas Maruion tossed in 16 points and Marloni Gonzales had 11 points and 11 boards for the Sharks, who tallied their fourth victory in seven outings.

Esrom Cuizon fired 17 points, Robert Gilo had 12 markers in ePerformax’s second loss in seven games.

Jetro Gonzaga netted 20 points, Jasper Christian Diaz collected 18 points and 17 rebounds, John Anthony Ares and Janrie Perez delivered 12 apiece, Caezar Dequita scored 11, while Armalon Fernandez and Jonell Nogas contributed 10 each in an outstanding balanced attack by the Boomerangs, climbed to 3-5.

The Warriors, who remained winless after six games, were led by Alexander Neri’s 27 markers.

In the lone Evo League duel, Paul Romwell Amit came away way 18 points and 19 rebounds to power the Blue Ocean Pirates to an 84-54 trampling of the Falcons.

Raymond Dennis Tan chipped in 15 points, Augustine Aworuwa donated 12 and Michael Romeo had 11 for the Pirates, who nailed just their second win in seven games.

The Falcons, who got a combined 34 markers from Tristan Abenido, Ralph Ligtas and John Rey Cabatingan, crashed to 0-7.
