Controversial Baby Lancers visit ‘Gasa sa Gugma’

THE rehabilitation of the University of the Visayas Baby Lancers has started.

Together with Green Lancers head coach Gary Cortes and the returning lead assistant Van Halen Parmis, the Baby Lancers paid a visit to the Gasa sa Gugma-Home for the Dying Destitutes last Wednesday.

There, the youngsters managed to spend time and talk with the residents. They were also given an inspirational message about St. Teresa of Culcutta by one of the nuns.

According to Parmis, who has decided to come back to the team after taking time off to tend to his ailing grandfather, the visit was timely especially in the wake of the controversies that the Baby Lancers have found themselves in of late.

“They shared a message about talent and family, which was timely since most of these players are away from their families, and they already miss them a lot,” shared Parmis, a successful coach in his own right who has captured numerous titles in the commercial basketball scene.

Parmis added that he recruited nine players on the current Baby Lancers roster and decided to return to help them get out of this rut.

“I just want to comfort these kids and let them know that I am on their side. These are good kids. I won’t tolerate their wrongdoings, but at the same time, I just want to talk to them and make them understand what’s right.”
