Fernandez confident Tabal-Patafa issue will be fixed

Following his announcement that Cebuana Olympian Mary Joy Tabal was no longer part of the Philippine team, Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) commissioner Ramon Fernandez said he is confident the issue will eventually be fixed.

Fernandez told Cebu Daily News that he already brought this issue up to the PSC board.

Fernandez posted on his Facebook account yesterday announcing that Tabal was removed from the national team.

“Definitely we will fix this. I will bring this issue up to the board meeting of PSC next week and I also learned that Joy(Tabal) and her manager and sponsor Jonel Borromeo of Motorace Philippines are planning to talk to PATAFA,” Fernandez added.

Fernandez met with Tabal yesterday after he learned that the latter was removed from the Philippine team.

Tabal, who said she won’t comment on the issue, said she was already aware of her removal since August 31 after the Philippine Amateur Track and Field Association (PATAFA) sent her an email.
