The Mandaue City Council is inviting city residents to a public hearing on Tuesday to discuss legislation by Vice Mayor Carlo Fortuna and Councilor Elstone Dabon aimed at improving the city’s traffic flow.
The first draft ordinance proposes to increase fines for traffic violations while the second one will define and impose fines on distracted driving.
A second public hearing scheduled on Sept. 20 will also discuss two draft ordinances by Councilors Kevin Cabahug and Cynthia Remedio.
The first ordinance seeks to amend an existing city ordinance that requires proper labeling and sale of cigarettes sold and prohibiting smoking in public places.
The second ordinance seeks to amend an existing ordinance that regulates sale of tobacco to minors aged below 18-years-old.
A Facebook post by the Mandaue City Council said the Sept. 13 and 20 public hearings will be held at the city session hall located at the second floor of the Mandaue City Hall from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
