UC looks to recover versus USC in Cesafi juniors hoop

AFTER suffering a shocking loss to the Cebu Eastern College (CEC) Dragons in their last game, the University of Cebu (UC) Baby Webmasters will try to get back to their winning ways when they face off against the University of San Carlos (USC) Baby Warriors today in the 16th Cesafi juniors basketball tournament at the Cebu Coliseum.

UC was upset by CEC, 66–72, last weekend and dropped to third place in the standings at 5–2 (win-loss) behind the Don Bosco Greywolves (6–2) and the streaking Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu Magis Eagles who are at 7–1.

After tallying a whopping 25 points and 22 rebounds against the Dragons, skillful forward Luigi Gabisan will try to do more of the same as he teams up with diminutive court general Gelmart Umpad to take down the struggling Baby Warriors (1–6) and bring home another win for UC.

In the lone collegiate game, UC tries to shake off the rout it received at the hands of Southwestern University-Phinma as they plunge back into action against the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) Panthers.

An undermanned UC squad got blasted from the get-go eventually fell, 65–81, to the Cobras, suffering their fifth loss in seven outings.

UC will be taking on a Panthers team that led late but eventually faltered against the USC Warriors, 62–69, for their sixth loss in seven games.

USPF held a 50–42 lead against USC during their game on Sunday but eventually succumbed, no thanks to the shooting display of wingman Kevin Oleodo and rookie Jules Langres who took turns battering the Panthers defense to help the Warriors even up their record at 4–4.
