DESPITE the rains, some barangays in Badian town continue to experience a water supply shortage.
During last Monday’s consultative meeting, the barangay officials asked the provincial government to develop a waterworks system in their areas.
“Niaging tuig ni nagsugod panahon sa hulaw. Lisod kay kana among multicab dili man unta na gamiton sa pagkabo og tubig, amo na lang gamiton kay wala nay tubig maabot sa among barangay (The water shortage started last year during the El Niño. It is very difficult for us to the point that we used the barangay service vehicle to fetch water from the town proper),” Dagatan barangay chairman Russel Barbiera said.
Barbiera said Dagatan is a mountain barangay of Badian which is 1.4 kilometers away from the town proper.
He said their water pipelines can only deliver water to their 273 households for one hour a day.
Barbiera said they have to source their water from the municipal hall located in Barangay Poblacion.
The provincial government is developing a water distribution system in Barangays Matutinao, Malabago and Manay-as.
Cebu Gov. Hilario Davide III asked the barangay official to submit a written request so they can deploy personnel to build their water systems in their areas.
