JERROLD Tarog’s historical biopic “Heneral Luna” brought home six major awards during the 34th Film Academy of the Philippines’ Luna Awards held at the Quezon City Sports Club last Sunday.

The film won several major awards including Best Picture, Best Screenplay, Best Actor for John Arcilla, Best Supporting Actor for Nonie Buencamino, Best Cinematography, Best Production Design, Best Editing, Best Musical Scoring and Best Sound.

Meanwhile, Bea Alonzo won the Best Actress award for her performance in the Star Cinema film “The Love Affair” while Ana Abad Santos bagged the Best Supporting Actress for her role in “Apocalypse Child.”

Special awards were given to Batangas Representative Vilma Santos-Recto (Reel Award) while Jaclyn Jose was given a Plaque of Recognition for winning the Best Actress Award at the Cannes Film Festival for leading Brillante Mendoza film “Ma’ Rosa.”
