VM Fortuna, councilors test negative for drug use

MANDAUE City Vice Mayor Carlo Fortuna, the Mandaue City Council and City Hall staff tested negative for drug use in a random drug test administered by the regional Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA-7).

Fortuna posted the results in his Facebook account with the caption: ” Just in: NEGATIVE results of PDEA 7 Drug Tests on Mandaue City Councilors, Vice-Mayor, City Administrator.and Chief of Staff. We are all drug-free.”

The random drug test was requested by Mandaue City Mayor Gabriel Luis R. Quisumbing and the results were received at 1:50 pm Wednesday.

The drug test was administered to Vice Mayor Fortuna and Councilors Demetrio Cortes Jr., Elmer Cabahug, Nenita Layese, Tony Dabon, Malcolm Sanchez, Carmelino del Mar, Ben Basiga, and Kevin Cabahug.

Mandaue City Councilors Cynthia Remedio and Nilo Seno were unable to take the drug test.

Councilor Remedio is currently in Bohol to attend the Lady Local Legislators League (4L) in Bohol while Councilor Nilo Seno was asked to attend a lecture on federalism at the Capitol in behalf of the mayor and of Mandaue City.

Mandaue City Mayor Quisumbing says the city will conduct random drug testing on City Hall employees with department heads, permanent employees, casual and job order employees.

In the same Facebook post, Quisumbing also warns that “Any attempt at refusal or attempting to leave your post during the test without a valid excuse will be treated as a positive result.”
