Students from different universities in the city are attending today’s forum discussing how far media has gone in the society.
The forum organized by University of the Philippines Cebu’s sophomore mass communications students is held at the UP Cebu Arts and Sciences Department.
Stacey Baladya, overal director of the forum, said the event would aim to evaluate how the media nowadays would perceive press freedom after Martial Law.
“We want to know how far our press freedom now. We want to show media practitioners think of our press freedom,” said Baladya
Speakers of the forum would include Cecille Quibod Castro of GMA 7 Cebu, who will tackle “The Plight of Journalists;” former chairman of the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas Jun Tagalog, who will discuss “Journalism of the Past;” and Annie Fe Perez, ABS-CBN Cebu reporter, who will talk about “Development of Citizen Journalism.”
Communication students of colleges and universities such as Cebu Normal University, University of San Jose Recoletos, University of San Carlos, and University of the Visayas are among those who are participating in the event.
The forum is in line with the activities of the Cebu Press Freedom celebration.
