USJ-R FACES CIT-U

Jaguars looking to secure second seed in q’finals

Games today:
Cebu Coliseum
5 p.m. – UV vs USPF (College)
6:30 p.m. – USJ-R vs CIT-U (College)

The University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Jaguars will try to secure the second seed even as the University of the Visayas (UV) Green Lancers seek to regain their footing, when they take on separate opponents in the 16th Cesafi men’s basketball tournament today at the Cebu Coliseum.

The Jaguars will be taking on the Cebu Institute of Technology-University (CIT-U) Wildcats while the Green Lancers will tackle the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) Panthers.

Although both teams are already assured of a twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinals, the seedings remain up in the air with today’s results providing the answers.

USJ-R currently holds the second seed owing to their 8-3 (win-loss) card while UV is a game behind at 7-4.

USJ-R is considered to be the heavy favorites today as they are coming off a 69–60 come-from-behind win over USPF last Saturday. In CIT-U, they are facing a squad that is low on morale and firepower especially after losing to the Panthers in overtime last Sunday, 81–83.

The loss dropped CIT-U to a woeful 1-10 for the season.

The Green Lancers, on the other hand, seek to end the elimination round on a good note after losing last time out, 67–70, to the Southwestern University-Phinma Cobras.
