Pardo, Guadalupe precincts rack huge power, water bills

THE Pardo police precinct and the Guadalupe police precinct had the largest power and water bills among Cebu City’s 11 police precincts, Councilor Dave Tumulak said yesterday.

Tumulak, designated as deputy mayor for police matters by Mayor Tomas Osmeña, asked the Visayan Electric Co. (Veco) and Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD) to check the electric lines and water pipes of the two police stations.

Councilor Tumulak said he called Veco upon learning from the Department of General Services (DGS) about the recorded bills which he described as “makapahibu’ong” (unbelievable).

“Atong nakita gyud six ka computers, tulo ka aircon. Ilahang electrical bill is P32,000 to P34,000 every month since last year (We saw they have six computers and three airconditioning units. Their electric bill averages P32,000 to P34,000 every month since last year),” Tumulak said.

Tumulak said the Guadalupe police precinct’s water bill ranged from P16,000 to P20,000 a month. He said he asked MCWD to check if there may be water leakage there.

He said the mayor told them to find ways to reduce expenses in the city’s police precincts which also include fuel and phone bills.
