Southwestern University (SWU), the University of San Carlos (USC) and the University of Cebu (UC) will battle the combined forces of the University of the Visayas (UV), the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R), Cebu Institute of Technology-University (CIT-U) and the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) in the annual All-Star Game of the 16th Cesafi men’s basketball tournament on Sunday at the Cebu Coliseum.

The Cobras, fresh off a sweep of the elimination round, will be sending six players to the East team, led by two-time MVP Macmac Tallo, John Lloyd Luz, Bernie Bregondo, Ian Ortega, Quintin Nzuzi and rookie Shaquille Imperial.

They will be joined on the squad by Warriors Conrad Catapusan, Kevin Oleodo, Ian Tagapan, Lucky Ecarma and Victor Rabat. UC will have Peter Codilla, Justine Dacalos, Gileant Delator and JR Puerto.

The Green Lancers-powered West squad, will be bannered by Rey Suerte, Alfred Codilla, Bassieru Sackor, Josue Segumpan, Monic Soliva and Jerome Napao, and will be reinforced by RJ Dinolan, Nelvin Navarra, Miguel Gastador and Jaybie Mantilla. Joining them from the Panthers are Lyndon Colina, Roy Quiachon and Gilbert Sastrillas, and the Wildcats’ Carmelo Lucena and Marlo Pono.

Interestingly, the coaches of the two sides will not be coming from the top teams as the commissioner’s office made the decision to award the coaching berths to coaches who have yet to taste the honor, namely USC’s Rommel Rasmo, who will be in charge of the East and USPF’s Albert Alocillo, who will take care of the West.
