IT’S cloudy skies with a high chance of thunderstorms for Cebu this week, the state weather bureau Pagasa said yesterday.
Al Quiblat, Pagasa Mactan office chief, said Cebu will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with thunderstorms particularly in the afternoon and evening.
“On Monday and Tuesday, our forecast is that high to moderate rain will be experienced because we will be slightly affected by the habagat (southeast monsoon) intensified by (the upcoming) storm,” Quiblat said.
Tropical storm Igme (international name Chaba) entered the country yesterday, the ninth this year after typhoon Helen.
But Quiblat said Igme’s presence is 1,800 kilometers east of Luzon and so won’t impact on the Visayas and Mindanao.
“Igme has no big effect in the Philippines because the pressure is towards Japan,” Quiblat said.
He said there is also a low pressure area (LPA), but it’s still 300 kilometers away from Apari Cagayan Valley.
Quiblat said Igme is expected to exit the country tomorrow or Tuesday.
But another storm may arrive at the time, and Quiblat said Pagasa will name the storm or typhoon as Julian.
