THE 2002 Lions and the 2008 Flyboys were crowned champions in their respective divisions after they prevailed over their respective opponents in the finale of University of San Carlos North Alumni Basketball Conference President’s Cup on Saturday night at the USC North Campus gym.
Stung by a loss in game 2, the Rock Uniform Solutions–powered Lions played with a purpose and came away with an 89–58 rout of the 1999rs to claim the Division 2 title.
Enrico Llanto, the former two-time MVP of the Cesafi, was head and shoulder above the rest as he scored 25 points while Jose Ruiz tallied 17 more.
Llanto was named MVP of the division.
The championship was a fitting finale for the once-dominant Lions, which lost just one game all season long.
In division 3, the Flyboys made sure to keep the title in their hangar as they emerged victorious over the 2011 Elevens, 63–59.
John Otida, the hero for Batch 2008 in their title win in the last conference, was up to his old tricks once again as he scored 22 to lead the way for the Flyboys.
John Cabellon added 19 to once again frustrate the Elevens, who got 16 from Anthony Romaguera and 12 from Prince Malana.
Eventually named MVP was former USC Warrior star Nico Magat.
