POWER-SMASHING partners Aljun Penute and Gerard Cosicol outlasted Arthur Dignos and Geoffrey Veraces, 31-20 to capture the centerpiece Level E crown in the First Smashtime Badminton Tournament held last Sept. 24 at the Racquet Zone Badminton Center.

The well-attended tournament was organized by Fritz Albores.

In the Level E championship, spectators were treated to more than just top level badminton action as Dignos and Penute amused the onlookers by trading taunts whenever they scored a point. Dignos, however, started overcalculating his shots when they changed ends resulting in numerous unforced errors.

Penute and Cosicol received cash and the coveted Smashtime emblem medals.

Dignos and Veraces received the first runner-up gold medals, Fritz Sagaad and Brian Dalce took the second runner-up silver medals while guest players from CDO, Johnny Manaya and Angela Agol went home with the third tunner-up bronze medals.

Meanwhile, Jayward Guerra and Riggo Adraincem bagged the Level F crown after beating Kenjie Vergara and Joel Madalogdog in the finals. Frances Dolly Gallardo and Kevin Acosta finished third, while Rey Caayao and Johnny Manaya placed fourth over-all.
The Level G pair of Enzo Tatlonghari and Jeemil Arenas claimed supremacy over Air Force players Apple Garbo and Vince Cordova in their finals match. Third place went to Peddie Zuñiga and John Tobes while John Matthew de Castro and Erik Mendiola finished fourth.
