An elderly woman drowned while collecting mangrove leaves on the seashore of Barangay Mantuyong, Badian town, southwest Cebu on Monday afternoon.
Juana Martinez, 70, of Barangay Bugas, Badian was seen by residents in the area floating already lifeless.
SPO2 Jeremias Elardo of Badian Police Station, said the victim was last seen taking mangrove leaves to feed her animals.
Martinez was immediately brought to Badian District Hospital but was pronounced dead by attending physician.
