ROTARY Club members in Cebu are expected to throw their full support behind the 10th Pink October Run which will unfold on October 16 at the Terraces of Ayala Center Cebu.

This after Rotary Club of Cebu 3860 governor Mary Anne Solomon Alcordo, encouraged other Rotary Club chapters in Cebu to take part in the running event which aims to increase breast cancer awareness.

Solomon and Icanserve Foundation volunteer and breast cancer survivor Anne Georgia Solante attended the opening of the run’s registration on Monday at the Active Zone of
Ayala Center Cebu along with the event’s organizer Dr. Peter Mancao and Ayala Center Cebu’s Ian Virrey.

“We will run for a cause and awareness. We encourage all Rotary Clubs in Cebu to join as we will make it part of our district challenge,” said Solomon. “We will be a big delegation and this will mark our full support to this running event.”

Solante also revealed that around a hundred breast cancer survivors will take part in the race wearing ballet tutus to make the run more colorful and fun-filled.

Virrey for her part revealed that there will be 11 events lined-up at the Ayala Center Cebu for the whole month of October to highlight the celebration of breast cancer awareness month. Included in the line-up of events is the Pink October Run.

“Last Saturday we had a Cancer Chat at the Ayala Cinema and there is also a zumba, a fitness challenge and so much more in store to celebrate breast cancer awareness month,” Virrey said.

The race is organized by the Philippine Society of General Surgeons-Cebu and the Eastern Visayas Chapter (PSGS-CEV). They are expecting a thousand runners to answer the starting gun.

The run will have three distances, the 12-kilometer, 6k and 3k with registration fee pegged at P400 inclusive of race shirt.

The medical students’ category will be in the 6k distance like the Rotarians category. A five-man group run is in the 3k distance.
