THE UNIVERSITY of San Carlos (USC) and Don Bosco emerged with wins over the weekend to move up the standings in the Small Basketeers Division of the Milo-backed SBP-Passerelle Tournament that was held last weekend at the Ateneo de Cebu basketball courts along Mango Avenue.
USC leaned on a hot 12-1 start and cruised to a 44–26 bashing of the Southwestern University (SWU)-Phinma Baby Cobras.
The win put the Baby Warriors in third place with a 3-2 win-loss record. Justin Betinol scored 10 in the easy victory.
Don Bosco, on the other hand, blasted the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu B, 36–24, to grab their second win in five games.
The Baby Greywolves’ defense played a huge part in getting their win as they held Ateneo de Cebu B to a mere two points in the second period to build a 21-6 lead at halftime.
Sid Reroma, the son of champion coach Britt Reroma, was at the top of his game once again as he notched 16 points.
USC and Don Bosco, however, are still pursuing current league leaders University of the Visayas and Ateneo de Cebu A, who are leading the pack with similar 4-1 records.
