The body of a still unidentified woman was found floating in the seawaters of Barangay Alegria, Cordova town early yesterday morning.
Police said the woman in her mid-60s, clad in pink blouse and black pants, was believed to have been drowned as no external open wounds were found in her body. But the police recommended for an autopsy to determine the real cause of her death.
SPO2 Laurencio Wagwag, desk officer of Cordova Police Station, said a fisherman identified as Jeffrey Inoc found the elderly woman floating in knee-deep water around 5 a.m. yesterday.
He pulled the woman to the shoreline and asked help from the barangay tanod, who later informed the police. None of the residents were able to identify the victim.
The woman’s body was brought to Surelife Funeral Homes in Barangay Basak, Lapu-Lapu City.
