FOUR portable sinks with one month supply of germicidal soap were turned over to Canamucan Elementary School in Compostela town, northern Cebu by IPI Foundation headed by executive director Lourdes Damazo last September 28.

Around 150 school pupils will benefit from this Operation Hygiene Support Project initiated by IPI Foundation. The portable sinks will be placed inside the classrooms.

This project aims to promote proper hygiene by emphasizing the importance of hand washing to the students.

This is part of Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Committee specifically under the Adopt-A-School program chaired by Dennis Wong, executive vice president and chief operating officer of International Pharmaceuticals Inc. (IPI).

The Adopt-a-School program of the Department of Education was established to encourage private entities to help in the improvement of public schools. In return, donor companies will receive tax incentives.

To guide the donor companies or institutions what kind of assistance to extend, DepEd identified the following packages of support or interventions such as infrastructure, physical facilities, furniture and real estate; learning support; health and nutrition; reading program; technology support; direct assistance; training and skills
development; and assistive learning devices for students with special needs.

The CCCI encourages member companies to support the program. For inquiries, call CCCI External Affairs and Relations Division at 232-1421 to 24 local 105/112 and look for Ann Cabigas or Nova Cruz.
