UNDEFEATED Filipino boxer Harmonito “The Hammer” dela Torre is set to see action in the United States again and this time, he is vowing to do better.
The Sanman Boxing Gym stalwart will be fighting Frank Trader on November 11 at the Winna Vegas Casino in Sloan, Iowa.
The Dela Torre-Trader encounter serves as co-main event in the boxing extravaganza that will feature the return of former world champion Kendall Holt.
Holt’s opponent has yet to be announced.
The Cagayan de Oro-native dela Torre had his US debut in May 27, where he pulled off a majority decision win against journeyman Guillermo Sanchez.
Dela Torre was hardly pleased with that win.
“I’m excited to get back in the ring. My last fight was not impressive but I will make sure I will do much better come November 11. I have trained hard for six months in Miami and I will show the results come fight night,” Dela Torre said in an e-email sent by JC Manangquil, chief executive officer of Sanman Promotions.
Dela Torre (18W-0L-0D-12KOs) earned his second straight US fight after signing with American promoter Greg Cohen.
“This will be his toughest fight to date but I am confident Harmonito will do good. He has been training with his Cuban trainer Moro Fernandez in Miami, Florida for the past 6 months and I believe our fighter will stay true to his words,” said Manangquil.
