VOLKSWAGEN Philippines’ award-winning Child Safety Initiative (CSI) campaign crosses over to the Visayas region after successful runs in Metro Manila and key cities in Luzon.

On October 15 to 16, the CSI Visayas campaign formally activates at Robinsons Galleria Cebu, with Volkswagen Cebu facilitating the event kick-off.

The CSI advocacy highlights the Junior Driving Course, which features a miniature simulated roadway within a community, complete with road signages, stoplights, and Volkswagen push cars for the kids (ages four to eight ) to use. Samples of child seats will also be on display at the Child Seat Corner.

Aside from the Junior Driving Course and Child Seat Corner, there will also be a “Pledge Wall,” where children and parents can sign their commitment to the slogan “Child road safety begins with me” using a 6×6-inch pledge sticker that they will sign and subsequently post at the Pledge Wall. Car stickers bearing a similar design as the pledge sticker will correspondingly be distributed as souvenirs to participants.

Representatives of CSI’s institutional partner, the Philippine Global Road Safety Partnership, will be on hand to share their insights on road safety.

Volkswagen’s official mascot, Wolfi, will likewise be present to greet and entertain the kids and parents.

Volkswagen Cebu will showcase the Tiguan SUV together with the Touran MPV. There will be special packages exclusive for those who will avail during that weekend.

The CSI activation in Visayas is timely due to increased road activities, particularly in its highly urbanized areas, bringing up the number of traffic-related accidents.

Since its launch during the Manila International Auto Show in April 2015, the CSI campaign in Luzon has had a total of 6,791 children and 5,190 parents who participated in 32 venues. This child road safety advocacy increases awareness and imparts valuable lessons towards preparing the kids — along with their parents — to become responsible adult road users.
