Cebu got an average happiness level of 6.38 on a 10-point scale.
According to JobStreet, an online employment marketplace operating in Asia, Cebu scored a 6.38 out of its 10-point Job Happiness Index scale in its 2016 Job Happiness Index Report for Cebu. The Happiness Index Report measures happiness level among employees in their jobs with 0 being extremely unhappy while 10 being extremely happy.
Factors causing job happiness among Cebuanos include good relationships with colleagues, convenient work location, and conducive work factors.
Meanwhile, the top factors that make employees unsatisfied with their jobs are poor salary, lack of benefits, and an uninspiring management and leadership team.
The report says that 76 out of every 100 Cebuano employees claim to be at least neutral to extremely happy with their jobs. Asked what can increase their happiness at work, 31 percent of Cebuano respondents named salary increase as top factor. Fourteen percent say they would rather resign and take advantage of better opportunities while eight percent say getting further training and development opportunities will make them happier at work.
Cebu’s score is higher than the national average of 6.25. The report comes from an online survey conducted last June to July and yielded 518 respondents from Cebu, which is four percent of the 12,796 respondents all over the Philippines. For two straight years, the Philippines has had the happiest employees in Asia.
