A female drug suspect managed to elude arrest during a raid conducted by the police operatives from the Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB) around 7 a.m. yesterday on Juan Luna Street, Barangay Looc, Danao City.
Hennie Tano Barriga, 40, married and subject of the operation, was able to escape by passing through a small hole leading to the back of their house. Her brother Lemuel Barriga, 31, and companion Usman Espinosa Pabolar, 23, however, were arrested.
Supt. Germano Mallari, chief of PIB, said Hennie immediately escaped after sensing that her brother was transacting with a police poseur-buyer.
Seized from the suspects were four large plastic packs of suspected shabu worth P247,800 base on the Dangerous Drugs Board value.
According to Mallari, Hennie was put under surveillance for a month before they conducted the drug bust.
Meanwhile, about P150,000 worth of illegal drugs were confiscated by the police from a drug suspect in Barangay Talaga, Argao town, southern Cebu around 11 a.m. yesterday.
Argao policemen led by Chief Insp. Welther Grapa searched the house of Albert Albeos Ortega, 39, based on a search warrant issued by Judge Maximo Perez of Regional Trial Court Branch 18 of Argao.
Recovered from the house of the suspect were two big plastic packs and eight small sachets containing suspected shabu and drug paraphernalia.
Grapa said the suspect who never surrendered to Oplan Tokhang is now detained at the Argao police station.
