A suspected drug pusher who already surrendered to the police through Oplan Tokhang but allegedly returned to his illegal drug activities was arrested yesterday morning in
Barangay Jubay, Liloan town, northern Cebu.
Prior to his arrest, Julfran Garing Tautho, 37, allegedly held hostage his nine-year-old son inside one room of their house when the police was about to serve the search warrant issued by Judge Mercedita Dadole Ignacio of RTC-7 branch 18 of Mandaue City, according to Liloan police chief Franco Rudolf Oriol.
Tautho reportedly tried to pull the pin of a hand grenade he was holding, prompting the police to subdue him, snatch the hand grenade and take the boy to safety.
Seized from the house of the suspect were two hand grenades, improvised shotgun, two big packs and 15 small sachets containing alleged shabu worth P150,450, a weighing scale and drug paraphernalia.
Oriol said Tautho admitted owning high-powered firearms like KG9 submachine gun and .45 pistol that he already disposed to buyers, arising suspicion that he was involved in gun-for-hire activity. The suspect also told police that he got his supply of illegal drugs from Danao City and Cebu City.
