Artkada will help realize a vision of art corners in every public school in Cebu by holding its first art clinic tomorrow, Oct. 23, at the third floor of Robinsons Galleria Cebu.

Artkada—from the words “art” and “barkada”—a group of watercolorists, will conduct capsule classes in “free-form florals” and “still life” at “The Art Clinic: I tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The art classes will raise funds for chosen public school beneficiaries with the help of Robinsons malls and iLearners Inc.

“We want to build art corners in our beneficiary schools, where there will be shelves for books and different art materials,” said Dr. Nanette Nacorda–Catigbe, a member of Artkada.

Dino Dante Pajao, an artist from the Singapore Watercolour Society (SWS), will also be present during the event to conduct a live demonstration using the Daniel Smith Watercolor.

Around 120 participants are expected to participate in the art clinic for P500 as fee.

“It’s really more of a donation for the cause. We hope for more engagements like this until there’s an art corner in every public school in Cebu,” added Dr. Nanette.

Dino and the participating Cebuano watercolorists have waived their service fees, while the art materials to be used by the participants come from sponsors. The registration will go directly to the chosen school.

Dr. Nanette, Bee Chavez-Laurico, April Mae Carrillo, Williza Camille Go, Earl Tawny Hisoler and Dinah Ubas will handle the free-form florals class. In the still life capsule class are Wilbert Wee, Rochelle Tabino, Lester Glenn Tabada, Florence Mabayo and Jayson Frame.
