Terminal sets rules ahead of holidays

ONLY one companion or assistant will be allowed for senior citizens, persons with disabilities and pregnant women passengers when they are prioritized for boarding at the Cebu South Bus Terminal for All Saints Day and All Souls Day.

CSBT head Joey Herrera said the other companions of these priority passengers will have to line up like regular passengers.

“Kung naay kuyog, dapat usa ray kuyog. Ang senior kuyogan og usa, ang mabdos kuyogan og usa (If they have a companion, they will only be accompanied by one person. One senior will only have one companion same as with pregnant women [or PWD]),” Herrera said.

Herrera said priority passengers will still be in the priority lane and seats, but not anyone will be accommodated in the priority lane, including their companion.

He said he met with the bus operators last week, and they agreed that they will limit the number of priority passengers in a bus per trip.

Herrera said if there are already 20 priority passengers waiting, only the first 10 will be allowed to enter the bus.

It would reduce the waiting time for regular passengers, he said.

“It will still be first come first served when they will ride a bus. There are some who will insist they should be prioritized. We cannot decongest the passengers if we keep on giving priority,” Herrera said.

No more taxis will be allowed inside the terminal by Saturday this week to decongest the area.
