Five senior citizens from Cebu City finished their one-year “employment” in SM City Cebu.
SM City Cebu has extended due recognition and importance to the skills of members of the elderly population and hired them on October 20, 2015.
Aside from providing them with services for leisure and ease, SM also gives them opportunities to rediscover their self-worth in society.
The batch six senior citizens were then assigned as Foodcourt table usherettes, taxi passengers’ assistants, and female restroom assistants. The hired senior citizens were assigned on four-hour shifts starting at 10 a.m.
The program makes full use of the productive skills and abilities of the elderly, enabling them to be of service to mall customers and making them productive members of society.
A senior citizen-friendly establishment, SM City Cebu also holds seminars for the senior citizens, as well as to mall tenants and employees twice a year to further educate
them in providing better service to all mallgoers especially those with special needs.
