Deftac rules Dumau tilt

DEFTAC Rebeiro-Philippines collected 131 points to dominate the 2016 Dumau International Jiujitsu Open last weekend at the SM Seaside City.

The two-day event featured a GI and No-GI competition and was participated by elite grapplers from the Philippines, Japan, Singapore and Brazil.

Team Atos Philippines and 90/8 BJJ finished with 51 points each.

Leading Deftac’s gold-medal harvest in the Gi competition were brown belter Joey Lepiten, purple belter Leo Gaerlan and Phil Rizon. Fidel Ballesteros and Mark Oliver Co reigned in their respective divisions in the blue belt class.

Deftac’s other gold medalists were Lemuel Maglinte, Nino Aposaga, Josephus Guadez, Gian Carlo Palatulon, Duane Gacasan, Jonathan Narisma, Charlie Ratcliff, Charles Torres, Ferdie Fernandez and female jiu jitsu fighters Maria Aisa Ratcliff and Jenny Fernandez.

Maglinte won another gold medal in the No-Gi competition along with Guadez, Palatulon, Fernandez and Caryl Abigail Conte.

The silver medalists from Deftac Rebiero were Raymund Varilla, Raymund Revilles, Edward Reyes, Evelyn Ruiz, Kenn Jumao-as, Marvin Lim and Kyle John Lee, while the bronze medalists were Nicole Lim, Edward Reyes and Honey Leis Mionda.
