Lately my attention is glued on the CNN coverage of the US presidential elections and other international news courtesy of cable TV and the Internet.
Only three weeks left in the US presidential campaign period, and last week was the third and final debate of Republican candidate Donald Trump and Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.
Surveys showed Clinton won the debate for the third time even though Trump came prepared and was more restrained that time. Still, Trump interrupted the proceedings several times, calling Clinton “one nasty woman.”
Many political observers hoped that Trump would stop his meltdown, but unfortunately for him, he failed to do so. Some are even saying that the election is done, but Trump won’t concede and said he will only accept the election results if he won.
Many in the Republican Party have abandoned Trump due to their disappointment on his remarks and even contemplated on voting for Clinton. It will be interesting to watch the CNN coverage on Nov. 9, the day after the election.

The latest in Iraq is that the prime minister declared an all-out war against the ISIS fighters in Mosul town.
Why Mosul? Because that town is the stronghold of the terrorist group ISIS, so the Iraqi government would like to take the fight to them and they are helped by the Kurds and the American troops.
The latest report on the ground is that ISIS bombarded a town far from Mosul as a diversionary tactic. The assault is expected to last for two weeks. In Aleppo, Syria, the ceasefire was short lived, continually placing the civilians at risk.
Sometimes you wonder, what is driving the Syrian and the Russian forces to kill hundreds of thousands of civilians in Aleppo? Thousands of Syrians are fleeing the country and becoming refugees in Europe. I hope and pray that peace comes to that area.

Environment secretary Gina Lopez merely confirmed the health risk posed by the Inayawan landfill after an ocular inspection of the area, but Cebu City Hall isn’t about to close it due to a pending case in the Court of Appeals.
I think public interest and welfare should be upheld above all else, and the Court of Appeals knows this.
