ASIDE from a Bantay Dagat outpost, Sitio Mambacayao Dako in Barangay Lipayran, Bantayan town will also be a beneficiary of the provincial government’s integrated development program.

Baltazar Tribunalo Jr., Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO) chief, said the program will help develop a community-based sustainable tourism program.

Tribunalo admitted that the province had lapses in helping the community right after it was hit by Supertyphoon Yolanda three years ago.

“The reason why we came here (at Mambacayao Dako) also because we feel we still have lots of gaps in terms of recovery and rehabilitation after the Yolanda destruction,” Tribunalo said.

He said they will implement programs such as island farming, an early childhood program and sanitation as well as set up a marine protected area.

“We will also teach them to plant in the forest to prevent erosion in times of typhoon and it can also give them natural water,” he said.
