THE Department of Foreign Affairs-Regional Consular Office (DFA-RCO) in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental celebrated its first anniversary recently.
Dumaguete City Mayor Felipe Remollo and former ambassador MacActhur Corsino graced the occasion at Robinsons Dumaguete.
In line with the government’s private-public partnership (PPP) agenda and with a view to make consular services more accessible and convenient to the public, DFA-RCO Dumaguete formally opened in October last year at Robinsons mall.
In his remarks, Mayor Remollo cited that under his administration, DFA will be expecting significant number of clients for passport processing due to more private companies and foreign investors who signified intent to invest in the city.
In a strategic alliance with Chinese investor, the city government sealed a memorandum of understanding with Chinese firm Changzhou Xintian Rail Transit Technology Co. Ltd. for the possible construction of a monorail transit and electric tricycles.
“The Chinese monorail will bring in the first of the national factory in Dumaguete. We need electric tricycles and commit themselves to establish international headquarters in the city,” Remollo said.
