GATEWAY 2007 and Batch 1997 ruled their respective divisions after they swept their opponents in the finals in the PLDT SME Nation-Alfredo Gothong 21st SHAABAA Cup basketball tournament last Wednesday at the Ateneo de Cebu basketball courts along Mango Avenue.

There was hardly any drama as the two squads dominated the opposition en route to sweeping their respective best-of-three title showdowns as the inter-alumni basketball competition of the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu came to a close.

Gateway used a searing third period run to rout Kitrol 2003, 59-44, and grab the crown in Division C.

Batch 1997, on the other hand, set the tempo early and never let up to bludgeon Dynacast 2001, 59-37, and be crowned champions of Division B.

Aaron John delos Reyes led Gateway in scoring with 25 points while Brennon Kent Gothong supported him ably, scoring 12 of his own.

Athletic forward Chad Go led Batch 1997’s balanced attack with 12 markers while Magdaleno Sy and Walter Ong had 11 apiece.
