Minor deficiencies were noticed by city officials after inspecting some cemeteries in Cebu City on Monday morning.
Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CCDRRMO) operations chief Harold Alcontin said the entrance and exit areas in Calamba Cemetery were narrow while the toilets didn’t have enough water.
He also asked the management of cemeteries to monitor vendors inside the facilities who are using butane canisters to prevent any accident.
SFO4 Jovito Abelgas, Bureau of Fire Protection Cebu City operations chief, noticed that some people were using telephone wires in their electrical wirings in Veterans Cemetery.
They have asked the Office of the Building Official to inspect the area.
Alcontin said command posts and medical emergency stations have been put in various cemeteries while ambulances have been placed on standby.
There are also enough security personnel which include policemen, quick response team members, barangay tanods and firefighters.
